Westside/Central June 2007 service change meeting

Metro has posted its proposed June 2007 service changes for all five service sectors. These are the proposed changes for the Westside/Central service sector, which includes a new Rapid bus line, new supplemental express Rapid service, two route cancellations and route length augmentations.

The public hearing is 5 p.m. Valentine’s Day, February 14 at the La Cienega Tennis Center, 325 S. La Cienega Blvd., Beverly Hills. It is accessible by Metro Rapid lines 705 and 720, Express line 550, Limited line 305, and Metro local lines 20/21, 28/328 and 105. (more…)

San Gabriel Valley June 2007 service change meeting

Metro has posted its proposed June 2007 service changes for all five service sectors. These are the proposed changes for the San Gabriel Valley service sector, which includes two route cancellations, one route consolidation and several route augmentations. The public hearing is 6 p.m. February 12 at the Metro San Gabriel Valley Sector Office, 3369 Santa Anita Ave., El Monte. This is located at the El Monte Bus Center, which is served by Metro Express lines 484, 490 and 577X, and Local lines 70/370, 76/376, 170, 176, 267, 268, 270 and 287; Foothill Transit Express lines 480/481, 482, 486, 488, 492 and 494, and local lines 178 and 269; and El Monte Trolley Lines Yellow and Green and Metrolink Express Shuttle. 170-287: Cancel line and replace with modification to Line 287. Extend Line 287 to Montebello Towne Ctr via Ramona Boulevard, Tyler Avenue, Rush Street, Rosemead Boulevard, Garvey Avenue, Walnut Grove Avenue, and San Gabriel Boulevard to Montebello Towne Center. 176: Discontinue service between Highland Park Station and Glassell Park, removing service from Avenue 50, El Paso Drive and Division Street. Establish western terminal near the Highland Park Gold Line Station. 260/361: Discontinue service south of Atlantic Avenue and Alondra Boulevard. 684: Cancel line due to low ridership. 686-687: Consider combining lines. Service proposed to operate via Los Robles Avenue, Colorado Boulevard, Fair Oaks Boulevard, Glenarm Drive, Raymond Avenue, Colorado and Allen Avenue. 751: Establish southern terminal at Palm Place and Seville Avenue in South Gate. Service south of South Gate to Lynwood replaced by new Rapid Line 760. Improve peak-hour service to every 10 minutes. Comments are turned off for this subject. Metro has posted its proposed June 2007 service changes for all five service sectors. These are the proposed changes for the South Bay service sector, which includes five route cancellations, several route augmentations and a possible new blue express line.

The public hearing is 9:30 a.m. February 9 at the Carson Community Center, 801 Carson St., Carson. It is accessible by Metro Express lines 446/447, Torrance Transit Line 3 and all Carson Circuit buses.

115: Cancel service west of Sepulveda Boulevard and replace with extended Line 625.

119-126: Cancel service.

120-121: Make permanent current demonstration project to restructure service as two separate routes.

124: Cancel service.

202: Cancel service.

214: Cancel service on Broadway. Continue service on Main Street and extend to Western Avenue and Imperial Highway via El Segundo Boulevard.

305: Cancel service north of Pico Boulevard.

442: Cancel service.

445-455X Consider converting some peak hour trips to faster service via Line 455X, with stops at Harbor Metro Green Line Station and Harbor-Beacon Park & Ride.

622: Cancel service.

625: Extend to Playa del Rey to replace Line 115 west of Sepulveda Boulevard.

710: Cancel service north of Wilshire Boulevard on Rossmore Avenue and Vine Street and reroute to new northern terminal at Wilshire-Western Metro Purple Line Station.

Omnitrans service change meeting in Ontario

Omnitrans, the bus agency serving the Greater San Bernardino area, is also raising fares and cutting service over the next five years. Riders have until next week to give the agency their venom and plan accordingly until 2012.

The fares are going to increase from $1.25 to $1.35 for the general public, from $0.50 to $0.65 for senior citizens and disabled riders, $3.00 to $3.50 for a day pass (from $1.25 to $1.50 for senior citizens and disabled riders), as well as corresponding increases to its 7- and 31-day passes.

The service changes:

1: Reduce Saturday frequency to every 30 minutes.

8: Eliminate service east of Redlands Mall. Provide school trippers to Redlands East Valley High School on school days.

11: Reduce evening Saturday service to every 60 minutes.

15: Reduce Sunday frequency to every 60 minutes.

19: Reduce Saturday frequency to every 60 minutes.

20: Reduce Sunday frequency to every 60 minutes.

22: Reduce weekday frequency to every 30 minutes.

28: Operate only during peak hours

31: Cancel route.

60/70: Restructure to operate on Foothill Boulevard between Day Creek and Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center and become Line 70, which continues to Rancho Cucamonga Metrolink Station and Ontario Mills. Line 70 would be rerouted to Milliken Avenue to serve Rancho Cucamonga Metrolink Station and Civic Center.

62/67: Restructure to run on Euclid between Ontario Civic Center & 19th St. in Upland. Line 67 would have restructured service to include 16th St. west of Euclid, the Mountain corridor and Montclair Transcenter.

65: Eliminate service to Los Seranos area and California Institute for Men; end route at Chino Hills Marketplace.

66: Reduce weekday midday and evening service to every 30 minutes.

68: Cancel Sunday service. Also, reduce weekday evening service to every 60 minutes.

71: Cancel Sunday service. Eliminate service on Fourth Street and Haven Avenue, and reroute between Ontario Mills and Fontana to operate along Milliken, Jurupa, Etiwanda, Marley, Mulberry, Cherry and Sierra avenues, extending to South Highland and Walnut Village. Also, eliminate service to Country Village. Service would now connect with Riverside Transit Agency routes at Marley & Mulberry.

75: Cancel service.

90/361: Cancel Line 90 service between San Bernardino and Montclair. Improve service to every 30 to 60 minutes between San Bernardino and Riverside. New limited-stop Line 361 would provide new limited stop express service along corridors now served by Routes 1, 19, 61, and 62 between San Bernardino and Montclair at 15 minute frequencies.

OmniLink service in Yucaipa and Chino Hills would operate weekdays only.
