Last day for Lucky Charms tickets

Today is the last day to order tickets for the Metrolink and the Los Angeles Kings promotion Lucky Charms, for our hockey team’s March 17 game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The San Bernardino Line has a train that leaves after the game is over.

Ticket packages start at $25, and they include a round-trip ticket, hot dog, soda and stylish lucky green hat. Maybe the Kings will wear one in hopes of turning in a good game.

Los Angeles Marathon

The Los Angeles Marathon takes place Sunday, March 4. This results in several reroutes of Metro bus services, but rail lines are unaffected.

From Metro:

Metro Bus Lines affected by this year’s LA Marathon will include lines: 2, 4, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 26, 28, 30, 31, 33, 37, 38, 40, 42, 45, 48, 51, 52, 53, 55, 60, 62, 65, 66, 68, 70, 71, 76, 78, 79, 81, 83, 84, 90, 91, 92, 94, 96, 102, 105, 150, 155, 156, 163, 180, 181, 200, 201, 204, 206, 207, 210, 212, 217, 224, 240, 304, 305, 333, 439, 444, 445, 446, 447, 460, 484, 485, 487, 490, 550, 603, 720, 745, 750, 754, 757.
In the downtown Los Angeles area, Metro Bus operations will be impacted with no through service on Metro Buses provided between Western Avenue on the west, Third Street on the north, Soto Street on the east and Vernon Avenue on the south. Some Metro Bus service using the Santa Monica and Harbor freeways will continue to operate through the impacted area via those freeways.

Downtown Living weekend

FredCamino’s malaise notwithstanding, the central city collection of housing goes on display at the Downtown Living 2007 Weekend, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 10 and 11.

Sixteen properties are pitching their projects, in various stages of completion. A PDF map of the properties is also available. And, heck, let’s throw in the advertising supplement from Los Angeles Magazine as well.

Registration is available on downtownla.com. The event is free for walkers, and a shuttle bus is $15.

Party With a Purpose

In preparation for the Amgen Tour of California, a staged noncontiguous bicycle race throughout the state, Long Beach is hosting events on Saturday, Feb. 24, on the eve of Stage 7 taking place on Sunday.

East Village Art in Motion Festival, noon to 7 p.m., has bicycle-themed art, social networking and a tricycle relay race. It is around Linden Avenue and Broadway, a close and easy walk from the Long Beach Transit Mall.

Later that evening, Party With a Purpose is a ticketed event on Pine Avenue featuring a concert with The Emperors, Tripdavon and The Bravery, along with dinner at one of Pine’s fine dining establishments. It happens 6-11 p.m. Tickets are $35 (and at least $100 for a VIP dinner) and are available through the site.

Transit access: Metro Blue Line and Local lines 60 and 232; all Long Beach Transit lines except 45, 101-103, 131 and 171; Torrance Transit Line 3; LADOT Line 142; and Orange County Transportation Authority Line 60.

Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration

On February 24th and 25th, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles brings the 108th Golden Dragon Parade and Lunar New Year Festival to Chinatown. The Golden Dragon Parade itself will take place between 2pm and 4pm on February 24th, and the festival continues throughout the day and night. Other activities include food booths, lion dancers, martial arts demonstrations, carnival games, and childrens activites. A car show will be going on all day on Saturday as well, so go down there and tell ‘em you don’t need a car in L.A.

Transit Access: The Los Angeles to Pasadena Metro Gold Line stops in Chinatown, where many events are within a block or two of the station. Metro Bus Lines 45, 76, 81, 83, 84, 90, 91, 94 and 96. DASH Lincoln Heights/Chinatown and DASH Downtown buses also serve the area.
