I don’t know if the breaking up of Line 169 is done so well–you’ve completely left out the far eastern segment through Sun Valley, Shadow Hills, and Sunland. It seems like this would be an invitation for Metro to cancel the entire line, which would leave riders along Sunland Boulevard stranded. There are several schools in the area, and 169 seems to provide lifeline service here as well as the only link between the valley and the Sunland/Tujunga area–I’d hate to see it shut down. Perhaps the proposed Sun Valley line could become a Sun Valley-Shadow Hills line and also travel Sunland Boulevard up to meet lines 90/91/290 at Foothill and Sunland? (There should probably be a connection to the Panorama City loop as well–it looks like the way you have it, people would have to now transfer to Metro and then back to the DASH replacement where it used to be a one-seat ride).
Also, not quite sure why your Studio City line jogs up to get on the freeway and back instead of staying on Moorpark Street.
For Orange Line riders needing access to the Van Nuys FlyAway on the weekends, the proposed North Hills route fails in the fact is runs weekdays only; however, unlike the 169 that doesn’t run on Saticoy on weekends, the Panorama City route will connect the the FlyAway. The current option for weekend bus riders needing LAX access without heading to downtown for either the Blue/Green/G LAX shuttle or Union Station FlyAway is the Westwood FlyAway at the south end of Metro Rapid 761.
It’s not surprising to see the Panorama City route being the only service to run 7 days due to Panorama City being the densest part of the San Fernando Valley and has potential transit ridership, which is evident in the popularity of Metro Local 233 and Metro Rapid 761.
The Panorama City DASH already gets overcrowded and late at times. Either more service needs to be added or it needs to become a big bus Metro route.
I imagine the Sunland Blvd part of 169 can operate its weekend route to Burbank Airport all week. Perhaps it can even be increased to every 30 minutes if Metro no longer has to operate the whole stretch. Truly public transit service to the Van Nuys flyaway is a disaster. Perhaps on the weekends every other 163 can operate there via Woodley, Saticoy, and Haskell.
