DASH Restructuring — Part 1: East and Northeast L.A.

Damn, I was supposed to post this for Tuesday. As I’ve said, the Google Maps problems are keeping me tied up, hence the lull in activity.
The first series may look familiar. These suggestions first appeared in February. It is a repost of suggestions for lines LADOT should consider as it plans to restructure service. These suggestions were originally for routes that would augment both the northeast and eastern Los Angeles segments of the Metro Gold Line. Remember …
the Gold Line Eastside Extension is opening Sunday.
While the opening is a time for revelry, the Eastside’s first rail service after almost a 50-year absence has an accessibility problem. The bus services are terribly thin on all stations but Soto Street and Atlantic Boulevard. LADOT should bulk up neighborhood connections within L.A. Originally, three lines have been proposed to serve eastern and Northeast L.A. One is included, but it is a new version of a Metro route that may be too busy to operate by DASH buses.
Before the presentation of the routes, I would like to gauge opinion as to what fare LADOT should charge for absorbing and operating citywide service outside of downtown L.A. Please answer the fare poll. Thanks.
Eastside Gold Line Transit Service Interface Proposal map (the proposed DASH lines are in pink)
Affected Metro lines to be replaced: 181, 252, 256, 605, 620
Affected existing LADOT lines to be replaced or changed: Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles, El Sereno/City Terrace, Lincoln Heights/Chinatown, Highland Park/Eagle Rock
The following are the new proposed routes:
Boyle Heights/Chinatown
Suggested frequency: 30 minutes, 7 days a week
Rationale: This bidirectional loop line combines the Chinatown portion of the Lincoln Heights/Chinatown DASH and Metro lines 605 and 620, and tries to re-create the former Metro lines 250 and 253. This line not only provides a north-south transfer to the Gold Line, but connects Boyle Heights to County/USC Medical Center, Chinatown and Union Station.
Routing: Union Station, Vignes St., Cesar Chavez Av., Figueroa St., Centennial Street, College St., Main St., Griffin Av., Zonal Av., County/USC Medical Center, State St., Cesar Chavez Av., Boyle Av., Olympic Bl., Grande Vista St., Euclid Av., 4th St., Evergreen Av., 1st St., Soto St., Cesar Chavez Av., Evergreen Av., Wabash Av., Soto St., Marengo St., State St., County/USC Medical Center, Zonal Av., Griffin Av., Main St., College St., Centennial Street, Figueroa St., Cesar Chavez Av., Vignes St. and Union Station.
Eagle Rock
Suggested frequency: 30 minutes, 7 days a week
Rationale: Line 181 along Yosemite Drive would be broken away from present Metro Line 180 and operate from Eagle Rock Plaza to the Highland Park Gold Line Station.
Routing: Highland Park Gold Line station, Figueroa St., Ave. 54, Monte Vista St., Ave. 61, Piedmont Av., Figueroa St., York Bl., Yosemite Dr., Figueroa St., La Loma Rd., Genevieve Av. and Figueroa St. to return to one-way turnaround near Highland Park Gold Line Station.
East Los Angeles/Garvanza
Suggested frequency: 20 minutes, Monday through Friday; 30 minutes Saturday; no Sunday or holiday service
Rationale: This line combines the existing Boyle Heights/East Los Angeles DASH with the northern portion of Line 252 to form a Northeast-to-East L.A. beltline that connects the Pasadena and Eastside branches of the Gold Line.
Routing: Colorado Bl., La Loma Rd., Figueroa St., Colorado Bl., Av. 64, York Bl., Figueroa St., Highland Park Station, Figueroa Street, Avenue 52, Griffin Av, Zonal Av., Marengo St., Soto St., Wabash Av., Evergreen Av., Blanchard St., Gage Av., Hammel St., Floral Dr., Rowan Av., 1st St., Indiana St., 3rd St, Rowan Av., Hubbard St., Herbert Av., and Whittier Bl.
El Sereno/Monterey Hills
Suggested frequency: 15 minutes, Monday through Friday rush hours; 30 minutes middays Monday through Friday and weekends
Rationale: This line modifies the existing El Sereno/City Terrace DASH to ensure the residents of El Sereno access to both Pasadena and Eastside legs of the Gold Line. It also frees up Metro’s very long 256 route to operate as a straightened Eastern Avenue crosstown service.
Routing: San Pasqual Av., Hough St., Chestnut Av., Comet St., San Pasqual Av., York Bl., Figueroa St., Av. 58, Marmion Wy., Highland Park Station, Av. 57, Figueroa St, Ave. 60, Collis Av., Huntington Dr., Van Horne Av., Wadena St., Newtonia Dr., Maycrest Av., Huntington Dr., Eastern Av., Templeton St., Warwick Av., Alhambra Av., Lombardy Bl., Eastern Av., Druid St., Multnomah St., Soto St., Alcazar St., Indiana St., Fowler St., Herbert Av., City Terrace Dr., Wabash Av., Mott St., 4th St., Soto St., 1st St.
