Westside subway extension community updates

Metro is hosting a series of meetings on what is going on with extension of the Purple Line to somewhere in the Westside, which may or may not be the sea. Note that one of these meetings is going to be in West Hollywood — a corridor far away from Wilshire but with a growing community that would like to see a Pink Line as well.

The two-way travel Jarrett is discussing is particularly true of the proposed extension of the Purple Line from Downtown to Santa Monica.
Part of the reason opponents (like the anti-rail demagogues of the so called Bus Riders “Union”) failed in their arguments against extending the Purple Line west to the beach via the busy Wilshire Blvd. business corridor, Century City, Westwood and Santa Monica was they argued that this line was simply about allowing white yuppies living on the Westside to take rail downtown at the expense of poor downtrodden nonwhite bus riders elsewhere.
The arguments against the subway extension were underpinned by the erroneous argument that there would be primarily one-way commutes from Westside to Downtown and that it was unfair to make the county as a whole pay for a project that would only benefit “affluent” westsiders.
In reality, there is already two-way traffic on this corridor. Century City, Beverly Hills, Westwood and Santa Monica are increasing job centers in their own right. Both directions of the I-10 Freeway are busy. Both directions of the Wilshire Buses are crowded. Transit riders commuting west will benefit tremendously from this project too.
Pink Line Pink Line Pink Line. I really want to see a rail system under Beverly Hills it sucks living here and not being able to get on the subway, after seeing the proposed Purple and Pink lines on Wikipedia it looks like if these 2 lines are fully installed it will be major changes in this city.
If you goto one of these meetings can you do me a favor and make a huge deal about there not being enough bus service on the weekends after Midnight on Sunset and Hollywood Blvds, buses should be going 24 hours every 15 minutes on these routes, I don’t know what retarded person made the schedule for these 2 streets on the weekends but I see one of the solutions to drinking and driving would be more buses late at night, stop wasting the money on more cops just put more buses on the roads and add digital signs. There also needs to be buses running after 1am on La Cienega and Olympic Blvd, I am still very confused as why buses only run late on Wilshire and Santa Monica and maybe Fairfax. Like who thought of these schedules? I’m sure La Cienega should be going 24 hours too.
2nd Question: Why is there no transfer passes, in Seattle when I paid my 1.25 I could ride as many buses as I wanted in a 2 hour span, instead in L.A. you have to pay 5 dollars to ride multiple buses or 1.25 per bus which really sucks, can you please suggest transfer passes as where I used to live it made me love riding the bus. If I use a tap card I should be able to tap it for 1.25 and get 2 hours of everything. Please suggest this because it’s really lame how I have to pay 5 dollars to ride multiple buses/trains in a short period of time.
I used to see bus time pamphlets at like most stops in Seattle attached to the shelter, I don’t think I’ve seen those ever in L.A., that’s also really lame.
IN Summary, Please make a huge deal if you goto this meeting that there’s no late night service after 12 or 1 on like La Cienega, Olympic, Sunset, (I think Hollywood has late night every hour (Really Lame)) and Hollywoods really sucks.
SIDE NOTE: It’s really weird how buses have different schedules for different directions. I’ve missed the bus before because of this. I think on the pamphlets they need to make this stuff clearer to understand.
WHAT I’D LOVE: CAN’T THEY JUST RUN BUSES EVERY 15 ON SUNSET AND HOLLYWOOD BLVD TIL 3AM EVERY NIGHT? I’m sure they’d have enough riders for this and it would be just as miraculous as the Pink and Purple lines going in.
