  1. I didn’t even know that CA Shuttle Bus existed until now– and they’ve been operating since 2003? Awesome.

Not awesome. Apparently awful at advertising. (If they couldn’t afford it, how could they even survive to this point?)

I’m a trifle surprised you didn’t link to an interesting AP article (from Washington Post here, hosted on AP’s own site here), although there’s very little new…

  5. Great Roundup!!

I, myself, have been taking the bus more and more. I bought a Metro Pass for the first time for June. Metro Passes also make great gifts! My girlfriend started taking the bus to and from work after I gave her one.

  6. CA Shuttle bus kind of languished for some time. I think that a) Megabus, then b) high gas prices put a fire under them. I’d like them to succeed….

Malibu: Back in the 60’s, there was a plan to put a highway in the Bay. That’s right, a freeway on a causeway through Santa Monica Bay. The piers would have been wide enough for houses, buildings and even a boat marina….obviously, this plan came to naught….

  7. California shuttle bus used to charge $45 per ticket one-way - and languished, because you used to be able to get airplane tickets for less. No more. The $5 is a promotional price - the first person to buy a ticket on a given trip gets a $5 ticket, and the other tickets are progressively more expensive, most around $39 (the website explains it). With gas the way it is now, a 25 mpg car traveling the 350 miles with $4.50 per gallon prices will cost $63 one-way. Include wear and tear on your car, and the effective cost of driving doubles. A full bus typically uses 15% per passenger of the fuel of driving alone - so this is far more environmentally friendly than driving yourself.
