Re Hymon Part 2:
In general, MTA makes it a massive pain in the ass to buy transit passes. The number of stores that sell them is ridiculously small. Why hasn’t the agency partnered with 7-Eleven, or maybe one of the drugstore chains, to sell transit passes?
That is one of the brightsides to the TAP card system is that these passes can be sold in more outlets. The current pass set-up is horrible in that regard because their shelf life is very limited depending on the pass. It impossible to sell them at 7-Eleven, drugstores or even better Supermarkets(though there are a few supermarkets with Check Cashing counters inside the stores that can make the available).
