  1. I really like that Wall Street Journal article. I’m surprised they printed it.

I a particularly liked this comment about their “8 Reasons Higher Prices Will Do Us a World of Good”:

    5. Mass-transit development
Anyone accustomed to taking mass transit to work knows the joy of a car-free commute. Yet there have been few major additions or improvements to our mass-transit systems in the last 30 years because cheap gas kept us in our cars.

  2. Where is the admission from “market-savvy” WSJ that “cheap gas” was a trillion-dollar subsidy for the auto, sprawl, and carbon-fuel companies? They make it sound like keeping oneself in one’s car was personal decision influenced by conditions of a free market. This is the BIG LIE of our time.

  3. “Air travel is no longer the default when it comes to long distance travel.”

Actually, the thrust of that post is that cars are no longer the default when it comes to medium-distance travel. Air travel would no longer be the default for long-distance travel if we had a high-speed rail network.

  4. Ok so the mole doesn’t have a comment area so I will say it here? What is his deal with the FlyAway buses having Wyoming plates? There is a really easy explanation for that… Coach USA operates the service for LAWA, Coach USA has its apportioned plates issued out of Wyoming. The plates are apportioned which means Wyoming takes the money from Coach USA, deducts a fee for itself and than splits the money with every state in the US. No big deal, California gets it’s share.
