Bike-sharing won’t work in Los Angeles. Bike culture here is gradually adopting the aesthetic aspects of car culture — i.e. lowrider bikes, fixed-gear bikes, etc. It’s self-expression. People who ride their bikes take pride in what they ride. They would rather own their on bikes. But hey, it’s not necessarily a bad thing — it’s not nearly as damaging as car culture, so the Militant says, let ‘em have it.
The Militant does see a future for car-sharing, being that insurance and gas are expensive.
