What I love about that letter to the Telegram is that she said it was much easier than she could have imagined.
Many people driving don’t even know the public transit options are available. They think “public transit” and they assume they cannot get ANYWHERE in So Cal without a car. My friend, Paul, had no idea he could take the 156 bus from his front door to Hollywood.
I’m not sure he appreciated learning that. The car culture depends upon believing you cannot get ANYWHERE on transit.
It’s good to see my native Long Beach getting some coverage. I may be moving back soon, at which point I’ll have to start “Metro Rider LB”.
While we’re on the subject, any news about the Long Beach-Hawthorne Rapid line that shows up as a “Metro Rapid (future)” on the map? Those red rapids will make a nice addition to the potpourri of of buses and trains on 1st Street.
