Woo hoo

The U.S. Senate passed the 2008 transportation appropriations bill, which includes the federal repeal of the tunneling ban under Wilshire Boulevard.
It’s another hurdle cleared, but the Metro Purple Line extension still cannot proceed just yet. For one thing, the Senate and House must reconcile their versions of the appropriations bill in a conference committee. Then comes the hard part of scrounging up of funds to study and build the subway — none of which can be local thanks to Zev’s Law.
Also included in the bill is full funding for the Gold Line’s Eastside extension.

We still must be cautious. President Bush has said that he will veto this bill(even though it passed the senate with a veto proof margin). But you never know with this crowd.
The next long term goal is to repeal Zev’s Law.
I guess we have to float a Proposition to do that. Money money money. Any ideas, anyone?
