Megabus San Diego stop update
[tags]san diego, megabus, bus[/tags]
An important addendum to the Megabus Ride Report. In the comments, Matthew mentions that Megabus has already moved its San Diego bus stop to a downtown location on 13th street. This one offers far better connections to Trolley and bus services.
The information in the Ride Report of the stop being the Goodall’s bus yard near City Heights is accurate but now outdated.

i’m going from san diego to the convention center in los angeles……
what are the connections……..
thank you…….
Megabus arrives at Union Station in Los Angeles.
At Union Station, walk down the ramp and turn right to the courtyard. Walk inside to the station and take the Red or Purple Line to 7th Street/Metro Center.
At 7MC, go upstairs and catch the Blue Line and go one stop south to Pico. The Convention Center is the aqua glass complex a block west.
A day pass, good on Metro rail and buses, is $5.
A much cheaper way to connect is to use DASH instead. Exit Union Station straight out the front door, westward towards Alameda Street, and cross the street. Wait for DASH B to take you to City National Plaza at 5th and Flower (formerly called Arco Plaza, across the street from the Central Library). Get a transfer from the driver. Then transfer to DASH F at the same stop you got off at. You can then get off right in front of the convention center. On the weekends, take DASH DD instead and transfer to DASH F at the same location (City National Plaza, 5th and Flower).
There is much less walking but of course the trip takes longer. The cost is much less expensive…. 25 cents. If you are traveling during the day, DASH is a much, much better deal than that $5 day pass.
I plan to catch the mega bus from San Diego to L.A., once I’m the Union Station, I’m planning to go the Crenshaw Blvd “taste of Soul” block party, between King adn Rodeo. What bus # will get me there from the Union Station? Thanks!
Hey Tony, there are a number of options, I’m not really sure which is the best. I recommend check out the Metro Trip Planner and inputing “Union Station” for your starting location and “Rodeo Rd/Crenshaw Blvd” for your ending location. It looks like a Metro 484 and then a transfer to a Metro 38 is your best option.
If radio station V100 ever throws the 5th annual Taste of Soul (in 2010), then it’d be as easy as taking the Red/Purple Line to the Expo Line and getting off at the Crenshaw station, but alas Expo is not finished yet. Your best bet is Metro Rapid 740 direct from Union Station at the adjacent Patsaouras Transit Plaza (Berth 5). It’s less than a half hour ride to MLK and Crenshaw and you’ll have to walk north to the festival.
