New Rapid 714 Stop!

Today I was not only overjoyed with the magical coming of the ever elusive and usually cancelled 3-day weekend but I found equal exaltation in the discovery of a new Metro Rapid stop as well.

It seems the Rapid 714 finally got a stop between La Cienega and Crescent Dr., an overwhelmingly long drought for any Beverly Blvd. commuter. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for walking; all for eliminating some of the over abundant stops (sometimes 2 within a block downtown) to speed up service, but 20 minutes was starting to just plain suck. And yes I’m aware that it’s a limited stop Rapid but I say again, the distance was just too great!

Now usually I just take the first bus that arrives, whether it be a Rapid or La Cienega local, which forces a 20 minute walk from either La Cienega or Crescent, or the far more scarce Pico bound 14. Mostly because I don’t mind the walk, but then there are those times which seem to be more often than not when running late will ruin the enjoyment of a nice 20 minute stroll to finish out the commute, and with summer coming, blazing heat and running late is never a fun combination.

So perhaps now you might understand my joy when today I happened upon a new red Rapid sign at the corner of Doheny and Beverly, an absolute perfect median. Not to mention how convenient it is for others’ needs, as there’s a Ralph’s and a Bristol Farms on both corners. In fact, several months back a Bristol Farms worker and I struck up a convo about how stupid it was that the Pico bound 14 was the minority as well as how riding the more often run 714 (during rush hours) is hard because of the mega extra walk. That morning we parted ways, annoyed but not without hope, and now I can’t wait to see her again. Can’t wait to see that smile as she waits on the corner of Doheny for those fast boi 7 series instead of the every 30 locals. And I’ll be smiling right there with her!

So to whoever lobbied or wrote or whatever, even if it was just an accident, I appreciate it, you’ve made my commute and many others’ in that area a whole lot easier. I saw no press release and I don’t want your efforts to go without fanfare. Now allz ya got ta do is make it so the dang thing runs more than a measly 6 hours a day. Oh, and one more thing, see if u can’t make all those 14’s finish the rout to Pico too for not everyone works and plays at the Beverly Center no matter wut the billboards might say. Thanks!!!
