New Programming For TransitTV

TransitTV and local NBC affiliates KNBC, KVEA, and KWHY have partnered to offer NBC programming on TransitTV equipped Metro buses around Los Angeles. According to the Bottleneck Blog, this new partnership will offer five minutes of NBC content each hour in Spanish and English. Ginger Zumaeta, Vice President of Advertising and Promotion at KNBC/KVEA/KWHY, say of the partnership:
“Transit TV’s network offers us a unique way to expose our stations’ brands and promote our programming to as many people as possible.”
As we all know, TransitTV isn’t very well received by most bus riders, I wonder if the addition of some more mainstream content will have any effect on that opinion. If anything, Tyke’s next edition of the Transit TV Update will definitely have to rate the new programming.

[...] your right Fred, when I saw the NBC segment on Transit TV I flipped out. Couldn’t believe my eyes. Though [...]
TRANSITTV is just another manifestation of Big Brother in this city. Yesterday they were bombarding the predominantly blue-collar, Hispanic, Asian and African-American riders of the bus with really biased anti-Iran and anti-North Korea propaganda.
It is so obvious that the establishment is trying to eliminate and eradicate public spaces in this city as an organizing tool. TRANSIT TV discourages dialogue and dehumanizes the ridership (much like television has done for this country as a whole).
We should ban TRANSIT TV from our buses!
Transit TV would be ok, if it was soundless. Sometimes they are REALLY LOUD!
The products they advertise on there tend to be pretty low-rent, late-night informercial stuff as well.
The map showing where the bus is at any given point is pretty cool, though.
