Service changes for December 2006 and beyond

Contributed by Wad on July 17th, 2006 at 9:37 pm

Metro has posted a list of service changes, that may go into effect as early as December 2006. Others, like some of the suggested Metro Rapid lines, may take longer to implement.

The Westside/Central service changes are not listed.

To sound off on any changes, visit one of the meeting sites listed. Written comments (mail, e-mail and fax) are also accepted and are made as part of the public record. The document has all the relevant addresses.

  1. There are actually no service changes for Westside Central this time around. What’s going to happen in June 2007 are them slashing the 4 and 20 to Santa Monica, and the 21 to UCLA, but that was beaten down already several times so it’s anyone’s guess whether they’ll try to cut them again.

  2. Out of those three, eliminating Line 21 is the one I could understand. There is already plenty of service from Santa Monica and Culver City, and MTA could even compensate for it by extending the Line 2 runs that terminate at UCLA to the Federal Building.

As for lines 4 and 20, fight the good fight, guys. We must keep those locals going to Santa Monica. They still draw great traffic, and I am opposed to such forced curtailments because MTA ghettoizes its service this way. One street, one bus.
