Can’t afford to fly all the way across country for Mardi Gras? Want all the fun of Bourbon Street without all the public urination? Well get on the Metro Blue line and take it to Long Beach (Transit Mall Station) where all the fun of the famous New Orleans event is recreated at the Long Beach Bayou Festival. The three day festival kicks off with live music by the Savoy Family Cajun Band and the Pine Leaf Boys, Friday, June 23 at 6pm and goes through Sunday, June 25 at 10:30pm. Enjoy all the sights, tastes, and sounds of Mardi Gras with two stages presenting live Blues, Cajun, Zydeco bands and dance workshops, as well as authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine, cultural arts and crafts, and a daily Mardi Gras Parade that marches down a recreated French Quarter. Admission is $15 for evening passes and $25 for all day, however, show your Metro ticket or pass and save $2 off of evening admission and $5 off all day admission. Bikini’s, the beach, beads, and more, it’s the Long Beach Bayou Festival, what more could you ask for!
