Who needs NYC’s Central Park to see Shakespeare this summer when you have LA’s own Barnsdall Park. Located at 4800 Hollywood Blvd, just east of Vermont Ave. in Hollywood, any and all can see FREE performances of Hamlet and As You Like It every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening at 7:30pm through August 13. Never been? Well you’re in luck for Barnsdall Park has a breathtaking view of Hollywood, the Hills, Downtown LA and more. Arrive early and check out Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous Hollyhock House and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. There were no cars in Shakespeare’s day so why drive to see his work. Instead, take the Metro Red Line to the Sunset/Vermont station and walk a block north on Vermont and a block west on Hollywood Blvd. There are also several busses that stop nearby including, the 180, 181, 204, 206, LADOT Dash, and Rapid 754. Barnsdall Park is on the south side of Hollywood Blvd. You can’t miss it. For more Bus/Rail information and how getting to the park would be easiest for you, check out the “Transit Links” to the right. Enjoy the stress free ride and enjoy Shakespeare under the stars.
