Metro Events Calendar

So I’ve implemented a new calendar feature on this site where all Metro related events can be posted. Events can be anything related to the “public transit lifestyle”, ranging from Transit Coalition Meetings to local events like Downtown’s Grand Performances that are easily accessible by public transit. Be sure to include as much pertinent information as possible, especially rail or bus lines that serve the event. Also include a link to the refering website if at all possible. Events will be highlighted (in orange) on the calendar on the sidebar, and a list of upcoming events can also be viewed by clicking “events” in the top navigation.

To post an event simple write a post as usual, making sure to include the name/date/time of the event in the title. After you have written a summary of the event, make sure to place it in the “Events” category so it is added to the calendar. The final step before you publish is to edit the “Post Timestamp” (make sure to click the “Edit Timestamp” checkbox, remember, it’s in 24 hour time format) to the date and time of your event. Then click publish and your event is marked on the calendar and listed in the events section.

Let’s fill up this calendar and show the community how many events are easily accesible by public transit, and to encourage event organizers to plan event in transit accessible areas.
